Odds are there will be at least one future UK basketball player on national TV tonight.
The final two games of the Adidas Nations tournament will be shown live at 8 and 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network, and at least seven UK recruits are scheduled to play.
Things get started with the 2014 Blue team vs. Australia in the consolation game at 8 p.m. The Blue team includes 2014 targets Justise Winslow, Jahlil Okafor and Isaiah Whitehead. Winslow and Okafor have scholarship offers from just about every major school except for UK. Whitehead, a star wing from New York City, said last week that he is planning a visit to UK in September. Whitehead also doesn’t have a UK offer, but Kentucky and Syracuse are his early favorites.
The Australian team features Ben Simmons, a 2015 recruit who drew rave reviews at the Pangos Camp earlier this summer.
The championship game (9:30 p.m.) will pit the 2014 Red team against the 2013 Blue team. The Red team features four UK recruits from the class of 2014, and two of them already have scholarship offers from John Calipari. Chicago big man Cliff Alexander and California forward Stanley Johnson received UK offers last month. They’re joined in the Red starting lineup by Noah Vonleh and Emmanuel Mudiay, two rising juniors who have received a lot of attention from the UK staff. Vonleh and Mudiay are both top 10 recruits and could get UK offers soon.
The 2013 Blue team includes uncommitted top 20 recruits Issac Hamilton and Jarell Martin, and North Carolina commitment Nate Britt.
