Xavier Rathan-Mayes tweeted out his final five schools Friday, and Kentucky is no longer in the mix.
Mayes, ESPN’s 23rd-ranked player in the class of 2013, is still considering Florida State, Texas, Baylor, Illinois and UConn. He eliminated UK, UCLA, Memphis, Kansas and Alabama on Friday.
UK was the only school in his final 10 that had not offered a scholarship.
Mayes is a high school and AAU teammate of Andrew Wiggins, the top player in high school basketball and UK’s No. 1 recruiting target. Mayes and Wiggins have openly discussed attending the same school. UK and Florida State are widely thought to be the top two schools on Wiggins’ list.
Mayes will visit Florida State next week. He was supposed to visit Kentucky earlier this month, but that trip was cancelled due to travel delays.
Mayes and Wiggins play their high school ball at Huntington Prep, which is scheduled to play several games in Kentucky this season.

Maybe there is a reason we have not offered like we know that we are on target for a better player, or perhaps we just want to take a longer look. Go on to Fla.State and never see the final 4.
