Elite 2013 recruit Julius Randle trimmed his list to 10 schools Monday, the first step in what is expected to be a long decision process.
Kentucky made the cut, along with North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, Texas, Baylor, Florida, N.C. State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
The list was first tweeted by Rivals.com analyst Eric Bossi.
Randle is a unanimous top-five recruit in 2013 and 24/7 Sports analyst Jerry Meyer ranks him as the No. 1 prospect in the class. The 6-foot-9 power forward is coming off a big weekend at the Elite 24 game in California, where he won the dunk contest and was named co-MVP of the game itself.
Outside of the Harrison twins, Randle is thought to be UK’s primary recruiting target for this cycle. His AAU coach, Scott Pospichal, told the Herald-Leader last week that he expects Randle to wait until the spring to make a college announcement.
“I think he’s going to be the guy that has the press conference at the end of the year,” Pospichal said. “I don’t think he’ll have a design in the back of his head, like Nerlens did. But I think he’ll do something like that. I would find it unusual if he doesn’t.”
