Class of 2013 center Dominic Woodson visited Kentucky for the first time last weekend. It’s looking more likely that it will be his last trip to Lexington as a UK recruit.
The Kentucky Kernel posted a story Thursday reporting that Woodson was no longer an option for UK. The Kernel story quoted Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford as saying, “He won’t be going to Kentucky.”
Fulford told the Herald-Leader later in the day that Woodson had not cut UK from his list, but that time was running out on the Cats’ chances.
“(UK is) not totally out of the running but he’s signing early and (there’s) no offer yet,” Fulford said. “So, it becomes a timing issue for both.”
Woodson, along with sophomore teammate Montaque Gill-Casear, visited Lexington last week and were shown around by UK freshmen Nerlens Noel. By all accounts, Woodson enjoyed the visit. But UK did not offer a scholarship during or afterward.
John Calipari was scheduled to see Woodson work out in Huntington the following day. But the UK coach postponed that visit after learning that Huntington Prep star Andrew Wiggins would not be in attendance.
Fulford told the Herald-Leader that Calipari had not rescheduled the trip as of Thursday afternoon.
Woodson’s list also includes N.C. State, Baylor, Texas A&M, UConn, Memphis, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Rhode Island and Oklahoma.

Here we go again, just like with Chris Walker there is just so much patience a recruit can have. UK could have had Walker but Calipari told him to be patient so Billy D. stepprd in and offered and so another top ten player was gone. I dont want coach Cal to offer every recruit a scholarship like Billy D. does but Cal has to offer some. Just like with Marcus Lee no offer yet and still Lee put the CATS in his final 3, is Cal going to wait till spring to see if he gets Randle before he makes another forward/center an offer? i think KY needs to start making a few more offers to top prospects instead of putting all your eggs in the HARRISONS/RANDLE basket. Dont be surprised if KY doesnt get 1 single top 10 player in 2013 and probaly wont finish in the top 10 in team recruiting. Now 2014 is different KY will get a amonster class especially if Wiggins doesnt re-classify to 2013(thats the only hope KY has of getting a top 10 player in 2013). I sure hope im wrong about 2013 but it really does look very iffy.
Walker might be a great basketball player, but it seemed to appear the longer he opened his mouth on the”social media” the more he looked like trouble to me. Frankly I am glad he went somewhere else. Don’t do anything stupid until you see what Cal does get for this year. I don’t always follow his rationale, but you have to admit so far it has worked out pretty well…..
UKSINCEBIRTH need not share another opinion or project ignorance on any one else with these intellectually offensive posts. An individual with any knowledge, intellect, or semblance of basketball recruiting insight recognizes this is nothing more than ignorance.
“Don’t be surprised if UK doesn’t get a single top ten recruit in 2013″
Wow, stop claiming the commonwealth because we are all embarrassed by your ignorance.
I will say it again, Trust in Cal. Our recruiting classes will be monster every year this man is running the program! This much is true until the one-and-done rule is adjusted. Your post lacks all credibility with the hyperbolic reaction that Cal isn’t taking care of business in the 2013 class!
questioning calipari’s recruiting strategy after all the high quality teams he has assembled over the years is not smart.
Trust in Cal thank you for getting after this guy. After the Walker comments I caught some flak from those that figured out who I was from reading my blog after I referenced this guy talking about Lee and bringing the super talented diva Walker in. I have interviewed some strong UK leans that do not have offers. I don’t post on hear to get after your readers Ben or Chris obviously I read and love your blog as a fellow recruiting analyst you have to see how frustrating it is to see this guy on hear before we have even seen these kids play there Senior year in school and who the late commits will be or who will make a huge jump a.k.a Montrez Harrell. Since Birth use your damn head when do we get commits after All Star games or no top 10′s WOW James Young and Family might take offense to that and I know a few analyst that rate him higher than last years lefty Shabaz so step up on your knowledge.
It’s “here”, not “hear”. Just sayin’
sounds more like ULSINCEBIRTH…..what a turd just keep your mouth shut ALREADY!!!!
WOW, you would think i bad mouthed the pope. I am fully aware that coach CALS previous recruiting classes have been fantastic and his results have been great. To attack someone because they have an opinion that you dont agree with just shows that there are a lot of Kool-Aid drinkers out there. I have been a UK fan as long as i can remember and have been close to the sports program at KY since i played football there for Coach Curci. Im not a basketball genius but i do call it the way i see it. If memory serves Demarcus Cousins came with some attitude problems but that didnt keep CAL from recruiting him and coaching him now did it! I hope i am wrong about the 2013 class, i really do but regardless ill still watch and root for the CATS as i have always done.
To prove my point about the Kool-Aid drinkers reference kyfrydaddy and in answer to jj and trust in cal they can disolve the super glue that holds your lips to CALS rear end at any ER.
