Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 recruit in all of high school basketball, will be in Rupp Arena for Big Blue Madness on Oct. 12.

Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford confirmed the visit in a text message to the Herald-Leader on Tuesday. The news was first reported by’s Evan Daniels.

Wiggins joins a growing list of expected guests for the season-opening event.

UK’s only 2013 commitment, Derek Willis, will use the weekend for his official visit. Marcus Lee, another 2013 forward, will also be in Lexington on an official visit. Class of 2014 targets Cliff Alexander and JaQuan Lyle said on Twitter that they were planning to attend. If Andrew and Aaron Harrison choose UK over Maryland on Thursday, they too would be likely visitors for Madness.

Wiggins is currently a member of the class of 2014, but he could reclassify to 2013 soon. If he makes the move, he would likely be the unanimous No. 1 recruit in that class.

  1. Wiggins is the real deal.

  2. I am really excited about the possibility of getting Marcus Lee. I think he is probably one of the most under rated players in his class. Put him in the Calipari intensive defense and look out! Marcus can block shots better than anyone I have seen in that class. He can rebound, and he can score with authority! He will do well anywhere he goes, but under Calipari, I think
he would really thrive. I don’t know how any of the big men in his class could be rated any higher than Marcus. The guy is an amazing talent.
