Andrew and Aaron Harrison will officially be Kentucky Wildcats by the end of the week.

Aaron Harrison Sr., the players’ father, told the Herald-Leader on Wednesday that the 2013 guards will sign with Kentucky “in the next couple of days.” Harrison Sr. said he would have to work late Wednesday, and the twins were scheduled for a late practice. That makes it more likely that UK will receive their paperwork Thursday morning at the earliest.

The early signing period started Wednesday and runs through Nov. 21.

Harrison said his sons would sign scholarship papers and national letters of intent. In the past, some elite-level recruits have signed only scholarship papers, which requires the school to give that player a scholarship but allows the player to opt out of the agreement without penalty. With a letter of intent, the player would have to be granted a formal release from the school to go elsewhere.

But that looks to be a moot point with the Harrisons.

“They’ll be signing both of them,” their father said Wednesday.

The younger Aaron Harrison caused some confusion Tuesday when he was quoted in a USA Today story as saying he and his brother planned to wait until the late signing period in April to make their commitment to the Cats official. Aaron called the move a “precaution” and said he and Andrew were “just making sure everything stays the same with coaching and things like that.”

But their father said Wednesday that was no longer the case. He said his sons will complete their paperwork “whenever they have a chance to do it.”

Andrew and Aaron Harrison started their senior season at Travis High School with an 87-59 win Tuesday night. Andrew scored 30 points, and Aaron added 23.

Both twins are unanimous top-five players in the class of 2013. Andrew is the top-rated point guard in the class, and Aaron is the No. 1 shooting guard.

  1. I wish we had them this year.

  2. Some are never happy!

  3. There were some KY fans worried that something was up and maybe the Harrisons had a slight change of heart but those were the extremely paranoid faction of the BBN. Looks like all 5 recruits will be signed sealed and delivered by the end of the week so those fans can come in off the ledge.
