WHEELING, W.VA. — Five-star center Dakari Johnson will announce his college decision tonight on ESPNU.

Johnson, who plays for Montverde Academy, will choose between Kentucky, Syracuse and Georgetown. He’s expected to pick UK.

The announcement will come at halftime of the game between Gonzaga (DC) and Salesian (Calif.), which starts at 8 p.m. Johnson and Montverde Academy will take on nationally ranked Simeon High at 6 p.m. in a game that will be televised on ESPN2.

Johnson, who attended middle school in Lexington and played briefly for Sayre High School, is ESPN’s No. 12 overall prospect in the class of 2013. Every major recruiting service ranks him as the No. 1 center in the class.

Kentucky’s recruiting class already includes three unanimous five-star players: Andrew and Aaron Harrison and James Young. UK signee Marcus Lee is regarded as a five-star by Rivals.com and 24/7 Sports, and signee Derek Willis is a four-star forward.

  1. Great news for the BBN if he picks the Cats. Great program. Great Coach. Great chance to win another NCAA championship and the best fans in college basketball. Seems like a no brainer.

  2. Welcome back to Lexington, Dakari
