The four-day Flyin’ to the Hoop Invitational starts Friday evening in Kettering, Ohio, and will feature top UK targets Andrew Wiggins and Emmanuel Mudiay.
Wiggins — the No. 1 overall prospect in the country — plays Friday at 8:15 p.m. in a game between two of the nation’s top teams, according to the ESPN rankings. Wiggins will lead No. 5 Huntington Prep (W.Va.) against 12th-ranked La Lumiere (Ind.). Huntington Prep’s roster also includes sophomore forward Montaque Gill-Caesar, who has already drawn interest from Kentucky.
Wiggins, a 6-foot-8 forward, has narrowed his choices to UK, Florida State, North Carolina and Kansas. Huntington Prep will also play in a game at Freedom Hall in Louisville on March 3.
The Flyin’ to the Hoop event ends Monday with Mudiay and Prime Prep (Texas) taking on Wayne (Ohio) at 8:15 p.m. Mudiay is regarded as one of the top five prospects in the class of 2014. The 6-foot-3 point guard already has a scholarship offer from UK, and John Calipari and Orlando Antigua watched him play earlier this month at the Cancer Research Classic in Wheeling, W.Va. Sophomore big man Elijah Thomas also plays for Prime Prep, and he is also being recruited by Kentucky.
All games will be played at the Trent Arena, which has a capacity of 4,400.
