Junior power forward Trey Lyles announced his final six schools Sunday night via a post on his Instagram account.
Lyles, a top 5 recruit in the class of 2014, is considering Kentucky, Louisville, Florida, Duke, Butler and UCLA. He has scholarship offers from all six of those schools.
The Indianapolis native is fresh off his third visit to UK in recent months. He visited with his father in September, was a guest at Big Blue Madness in October and was also in attendance for Saturday’s home game against Auburn. He posted a picture of that contest from his seat directly behind the UK bench.
Lyles originally committed to Indiana early in his high school career but backed out of that pledge in August. He’s drawn criticism from Hoosiers fans since his decommitment and has been the target of heckling at some of his games this season.
Many recruiting analysts see Kentucky as the favorite to land Lyles. Rivals.com’s Clint Jackson jokingly tweeted after Sunday’s announcement that Lyles’ top six schools were “Kentucky, Hopeless, Courtesy Listing, PR listing, OMG and LOL.”
Lyles told the Indianapolis Star that he still plans to wait until after his senior season to make a final decision.
New Jersey big man Karl Towns is Kentucky’s only commitment from the class of 2014. Lyles is one of seven other juniors with a UK scholarship offer.
