Andrew Wiggins has set tentative dates for his final three official visits — to Kentucky, Kansas and North Carolina.
The news was first reported by Scout.com.
Wiggins plans to visit UK on Feb. 27 for the Cats’ home game against Mississippi State. The 6-foot-8 forward was in Rupp Arena last season for Big Blue Madness and UK’s win over North Carolina. On Feb. 28, Wiggins and Huntington Prep will play a game in Teays Valley, W.Va.
The native of Canada will return to Kentucky that weekend, when Huntington Prep is scheduled to face national powerhouse Montverde Academy in Louisville on March 3. After that game, Wiggins will head to Kansas for his official visit with the Jayhawks, who host Texas Tech on March 4.
The final official visit will revolve around the North Carolina-Duke game on March 9 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Huntington Prep is scheduled to play Capital City Prep on March 9 in Huntington, but Coach Rob Fulford told the Herald-Leader that officials are trying to move that game to a different date.
Huntington Prep is headed to Canada this weekend. Wiggins is one of several Canadian players on the roster, and the Express will play an exhibition game Sunday in Hamilton as part of the trip.
Wiggins took his first official visit to Florida State, his parents’ alma mater, in December to see the Seminoles play in-state rival Florida.
Many analysts have called FSU the favorite, but Wiggins and Fulford have long maintained that the player would take official visits to UK, UNC and Kansas before making a decision.
Wiggins is in for a busy few weeks, but it looks as if he will do just that.
