Camron Justice scored 21 points and the Lexington-based Travelers defeated the Jackson Tigers 79-71 in their EYBL opener Friday night in Los Angeles.
Justice was 5-for-7 from the floor, made all nine of his free-throw attempts and added six rebounds for the Travelers, who moved to Kentucky this year after playing more than two decades in Tennessee.
Ohio native Jeff Thomas (18 points) and Tennessee’s Rob Marberry (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Travelers.
The Jackson Tigers were led by super sophomore Malik Newman, who scored 30 points in a losing effort. Newman is considered by some services to be the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2015.
