Kentucky Coach Mark Stoops added another talented piece to his 2014 recruiting class Saturday with the commitment of offensive lineman Jarrett LaRubbio.

LaRubbio tweeted his commitment, which was accompanied by a picture of him, Stoops, UK offensive line coach John Schlarman and UK tight ends coach Vince Marrow.

A native of Liberty Township, Ohio, LaRubbio is the sixth prospect from the Buckeye State and eighth recruit overall to commit to the Cats for 2014. He is the first offensive lineman in the class.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder is considered the 16th-best offensive guard in the country by Rivals.com and the No. 29 overall player in the state of Ohio. Rivals ranks him as a high three-star prospect. The addition of LaRubbio gives Kentucky five of the top 35 recruits in the Ohio, according to Rivals.

LaRubbio chose UK over N.C. State, but also had offers from Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Louisville and Vanderbilt, among others.

  1. So we are still st a place where we all get giddy over a 3* recruit??

  2. these guys are amazing at recruiting, keep it up and next season they’ll surprise some teams.

  3. Three stars won’t cut for me! I’ve been watching the Cats for 25 years. This coaching staff is going to have to prove themselves on the field.

  4. We needed a good O lineman, we got one. Not just a really good one, but from a place we’ve never been able to pull recruits out of before. Get over yourself.

  5. Well, I guess that it means something to be undefeated under Stoops guidance. Although for the life of me, I don’t know what it is.

Stoops has brought an awakening to the UK football program unlike any that I have seen during my 50+ years of being a BBN fan. He does need to win at least 6 games next year to maintain that energy and the recruiting level that he has had. But recruiting is just a part of the deal, winning is what it is all about. Commonwealth Stadium can get empty just as well as it can get full, ask Joker if you do not believe me.

    I cannot wait for the season to start ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
