John Hardin defensive lineman Matt Elam announced Tuesday that he has been invited to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which will include top seniors from around the country.
Elam — the No. 2 recruit in Kentucky and one of UK’s top targets — will announce his college decision at that game. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound defensive tackle also has offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Louisville and several others.
The Army All-American game will be played Jan. 4, 2014 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. UK commitment Drew Barker (Conner High QB) will also play in the game.
Elam recently participated in a University of Alabama football camp and told TideSports.com that he received some good news from Coach Nick Saban.
“Coach Saban said I am his No. 1 guy for nose tackle,” Elam told the Rivals.com affiliate. “He said don’t listen to what anyone else says. He said, ‘Listen to me. I am telling you that you are the No. 1 recruit for us.’ That was nice hearing that come from him.”
Rivals.com rates Elam as a three-star prospect and the No. 24 defensive tackle in the class.
