Stanley “Boom” Williams

The No. 1-ranked all-purpose running back in the nation is expected to visit Kentucky’s campus Thursday.

Class of 2014 star Stanley “Boom” Williams tweeted Wednesday that he is planning to travel to Lexington. The 5-foot-8, 185-pound running back plays for George Walton Academy in Monroe, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta.

Williams is considered the No. 1 all-purpose back in the country and the No. 96 overall recruit in the class of 2014 by Rivals.com, which rates him as a four-star prospect.

Clemson and West Virginia are also at the top of Williams’ list.

UK Coach Mark Stoops hinted at another possible commitment Thursday. Stoops referenced wide receivers coach Tommy Mainord’s penchant for tweeting “Yahtzee” whenever the Cats land another recruit.

“I am getting ready for a BIG game of Yahtzee!! Maybe tomorrow…. #BBN let’s keep it rolling!!” Stoops tweeted Wednesday.

Kentucky already has 15 commitments for the class of 2014, including four players who are ranked as four-star prospects by Rivals.com.

The Cats started the day Thursday with the nation’s No. 5 recruiting class, according to Rivals.

  1. In all my life, I have never been as excited about UK football. Well, with the exception of the Tim Couch era. Just be competitive this year and I’ll be happy as the schedule we have is the toughest in the nation. But that will just make us better the next year and the next. We need to be patient. And all the naysayers can just go on and continue to be jealous. GO BIG BLUE!

  2. WOW – wouldn’t this be a real coup! Wouldn’t surprise me, however. GO CATS!

  3. He’s ours and now a national ranking of #3.
