Class of 2015 forward Cheick Diallo won most valuable player honors at the NBPA Top 100 Camp on Saturday after leading his team to the camp championship.
Diallo, who averaged a camp-high 8.3 rebounds per game, is considered a five-star prospect in the class of 2015. The 6-foot-9 native of Mali plays his high school ball for Our Savior New American School in Centereach, N.Y.
Diallo led the Celtics to a victory over the Mavericks in the title game. The Mavericks roster included UK commitment Karl Towns, UNC commitment Justin Jackson, Indiana commitment James Blackmon Jr., five-star point guard Josh Perkins and highly touted forward Leron Black.
On Thursday, Diallo said that his high school coach is handling his recruitment, but he did mention Kentucky, St. John’s and Arizona as three schools he knows are recruiting him.
Diallo led the Top 100 all-star team, which also included Jackson, Blackmon, UK targets Devin Booker and Myles Turner, Joel Berry, JaQuan Newton, Reid Travis, Kelly Oubre and Kevon Looney.
