The UK football team is in good position to add another highly touted player to its Air Raid revival.
Three-star wide receiver T.V. Williams will announce his college decision from his high school in McKinney, Texas on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET. UK is one of five finalists, along with Nebraska, Oregon State, Iowa and Houston.
The 5-foot-8, 150-pound receiver is considered a three-star prospect by all of the major recruiting services.
Scout.com national analyst Greg Powers predicts that Williams will pick the Wildcats.
“I put him down as a Kentucky lean,” Powers told the Herald-Leader on Monday. “That’s still the way I feel about it. I think he’s been able to build some strong relationships there. So, if I had to pick, that’s where I’d probably throw the dice.”
Williams was one of 162 prospects from around the country who participated in last week’s The Opening event sponsored by Nike. The UK recruit ran the second-fastest shuttle time (3.83 seconds) at the event and was one of only five players to finish in under 4 seconds. Williams also recorded one of the best vertical leaps at the camp (39.7 inches).
UK commitments Drew Barker and Thaddeus Snodgrass were also invited to The Opening and both players have been trying hard to get Williams to join them in UK’s impressive 2014 class.
“What you see with guys like Drew Barker and Thaddeus Snodgrass is that they really love the school that they’re committed to,” Powers said. “And they’re definitely speaking about the pros of that university whenever they’re talking to these guys.
“Thaddeus Snodgrass was right next to T.V. Williams while I was talking to him at The Opening the whole time — telling him that Kentucky was the place for him to be. Those guys are very fired up about what’s going on and the momentum that UK is starting to build right now.”
Snodgrass — a four-star prospect from Ohio — is currently the only wide receiver in UK’s 18-man class.
