NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Former Kentucky standout Anthony Davis is one of several NBA stars who will coach some of the top high school basketball players in the country at an event in Las Vegas later this month.

On Friday, Position Sports announce the The8 tournament, which will feature eight of the nation’s best AAU teams. The event is scheduled for July 26-28 and will be played during an open recruiting period, which means college coaches may attend.

Davis will coach Mean Streets, his former AAU squad based in Chicago. Class of 2015 guard Charles Matthews is one of the team’s top players. He also was one of the first players from his class to receive a scholarship offer from Kentucky.

Mac Irvin Fire, also based in Chicago, is among the other teams scheduled to play in the event. UK targets Cliff Alexander and Jahlil Okafor play for the Fire, along with recent Louisville commitment JaQuan Lyle.

Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Kenny Smith are among the other coaches.
