Ohio shooting guard Luke Kennard picked up a scholarship offer Sunday from the University of Kentucky.
Kennard — a 6-foot-4 prospect from the class of 2015 — played for the King James Shooting Stars in the Peach Jam 16-and-under tournament and was watched multiple times by John Calipari and his assistants over the weekend.
He also picked up offers Sunday from Duke and Michigan State. The news was first reported by Cats Illustrated.
Kennard is the No. 18 overall prospect in his class, according to Scout.com. He told reporters Saturday that Indiana, Michigan and Ohio State were the three schools standing out at this point in his recruitment.
But that was before the offer from UK.
Kennard said he grew up a Kentucky fan, and his favorite college basketball player as a child was Tayshaun Prince. He already has visited UK’s campus, where he met with Calipari.
Kennard’s father played for Georgetown College in the 1980s.
