Texas small forward Kelly Oubre cut his list to eight schools Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Paul Biancardi.
Oubre is now considering Kansas, Florida, Kentucky, Georgetown, Louisville, Oregon, UConn and UNLV. He is ranked among the top 20 overall players in the class of 2014 by Rivals.com, ESPN and 24/7 Sports.
Oubre said over the weekend that Kentucky had not offered yet, but he expected a scholarship offer after Peach Jam. John Calipari watched him several times at the event, and Oubre told ESPN on Wednesday that the UK coach has now offered him a scholarship.
The 6-foot-6 prospect spoke highly of Calipari last week.
“He produces pros and he gets wins. There’s nothing really more to ask for,” Oubre told the Herald-Leader. “He doesn’t hold anything back. I like that. I like for a coach to keep it 100 percent with me.”
He will visit Kansas for that school’s midnight madness event Oct. 4, but he said over the weekend that he doesn’t have any favorites.
“Everybody’s pretty much fair game,” Oubre said. “Nobody really has the edge on anybody, because I’m still in the process of seeing which school is best for me.”
The official visit to Kansas is the only one he has scheduled.
