Highly touted shooting guard James Blackmon Jr. has received a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky, according to his father.
Blackmon Jr. decommitted from Indiana on Thursday, though his father told the Herald-Leader that the family spoke to Coach Tom Crean before news of the decommitment became public and the Hoosiers coach said he would continue to recruit the 6-foot-2 guard. Blackmon Jr. committed to Indiana three years ago, before his high school career even began.
Blackmon Sr. played four season for UK in the 1980s. He was a McDonald’s All-American before coming to Lexington.
All of the major recruiting services consider Blackmon Jr. to be a four-star prospect. He’s rated 25th overall by ESPN, 33rd by Rivals, 46th by 24/7 Sports and 57th by Scout.
Blackmon Jr. is entering his senior season at Marion High School in Marion, Ind.
