The Twitter account for the Fullerton College (Calif.) football team sent out a message Sunday night saying that Kentucky signee Melvin Lewis has finished his degree at the school and will be headed to UK this week.
UK Coach Mark Stoops said during last week’s Media Day press conference that Lewis was finishing up one class at Fullerton and was expected to be eligible upon its completion.
Lewis — a 6-foot-4, 320-pound defensive tackle — had 41 tackles, 3.5 sacks and six tackles for loss during 11 games as a sophomore last season. He also had late offers from Miami and Washington before committing to the Wildcats.
Oregon offers Berrios
Earlier Sunday, four-star wide receiver Braxton Berrios tweeted that he has received a scholarship offer from Oregon.
The Raleigh, N.C., standout is considered by Rivals.com to be the No. 39 receiver in the class of 2014. He also has offers from Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and several other BCS programs.
Berrios visited UK for the first time last month and has said the Cats are one of his favorites.
