Scout.com unveiled its first Class of 2015 football recruiting rankings Tuesday, and a star running back from Kentucky was near the top of the list.
Madison Southern junior Damien Harris is ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect in the class, according to Scout. He’s considered the No. 2 running back in 2015 and the No. 1 overall recruit from the Midwest.
Harris committed to play for the University of Michigan last month, though he will not be allowed to sign with the school until February 2015. He does have a scholarship offer from Kentucky.
Several prospects who have Kentucky among those listed in their “schools of interest” made the Top 100. Those players include Florida defensive end CeCe Jefferson (6th overall), Virginia linebacker Ricky DeBerry (10th), Florida safety Shawn Burgess-Becker (23rd), Florida linebacker Jeffery Holland (33rd), Ohio running back Larry Scott (34th), Ohio linebacker Justin Hilliard (54th), Ohio running back Eric Glover-Williams (67th) and Texas quarterback Jarrett Stidham (83rd).
Stidham plays for a school in Stephenville, Texas, but he grew up in Kentucky and still has family in the state. He’s ranked as the No. 5 quarterback in the class. Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Baylor have already offered.
Harris is the only prospect currently playing in Kentucky that made the Top 100.
Scott is the highest-rated prospect in Ohio, which has become a top priority for UK’s coaching staff. He also has early offers from Tennessee, Michigan State and West Virginia, among others. There are six Ohio prospects in the Top 100.
