One-time Kentucky recruit Josh Perkins committed to Gonzaga on Saturday.
The 6-foot-2 point guard from Aurora, Colo., was evaluated by John Calipari and the UK coaching staff over the summer but was never offered a scholarship by the Wildcats. He chose the Bulldogs over UCLA and Minnesota.
Perkins will play his senior season at Huntington Prep in West Virginia, but he returned home to Colorado to make Saturday’s announcement. Scout.com ranks him as the No. 25 overall prospect in the Class of 2014.
UK has offered three point guards from the class: Tyus Jones, Emmanuel Mudiay and Tyler Ulis. Mudiay will announce his decision later Saturday, and recruiting observers are predicting that he will choose Southern Methodist over Kentucky. Jones and Ulis will take official visits to UK next month.
