The Tyus Jones recruitment took an interesting turn Wednesday night.
Rivals.com’s Ryan James tweeted that Duke has offered Reid Travis, who is one of Jones’ AAU teammates and a top-50 prospect in the Class of 2014. Michigan State, Minnesota, Gonzaga and Stanford were among the favorites in Travis’ recruitment before the Duke offer.
Travis — a 6-foot-7 power forward from Minneapolis — is considered the No. 40 overall prospect in the Class of 2014 by Rivals.com. He and Jones were teammates with the Howard Pulley Panthers.
Duke is considered the favorite for Jones, who took an official visit to Baylor last week and has upcoming official visits scheduled for UK, Duke and Kansas.
Jones and Chicago center Jahlil Okafor talk often about their intention to attend the same college. Okafor — widely considered the No. 1 overall prospect in 2014 — will take an official visit to UK this weekend.
