Tyus Jones will not take an official visit to Kentucky this weekend as previously planned, his mother told the Herald-Leader on Thursday.

The five-star point guard has already taken an official visit to Baylor and is scheduled to take official trips to Kansas and Duke next month. Debbie Jones did not say whether her son is still considering the Wildcats.

Tyus Jones is considered one of the top-five overall prospects in the Class of 2014.

UK got a commitment from 2014 point guard Tyler Ulis earlier this month. John Calipari had an in-home visit with Jones a few days after Ulis’ commitment, and the UK coach told Ulis that he still planned to recruit Jones.

Jahlil Okafor — the consensus No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2014 — has long said that he wants to play for the same college team as Jones. The two players visited Baylor together and will also take their official trips to Kansas and Duke at the same time.

Okafor took his official visit to Kentucky earlier this month.

  1. Hey Ben, how many players from the 2014 class do think UK will get this year, and who?

  2. I think they’ll have 6-8 guys in this class. Towns and Ulis make 2. Think they’re in great shape with Booker, Lyles and Blackmon. Johnson and Oubre are definite possibilities. Maybe a surprise or two in the spring.
