UK basketball target Kelly Oubre has cancelled his visit to Big Blue Madness and will announce his college decision today at 4 p.m. ET, according to

Oubre just wrapped up a trip to Kansas over the weekend. That is the only official visit he has taken. The 6-foot-6 small forward recently said that Kansas and Kentucky were his two favorites.

The timing of the announcement suggests that he will choose the Jayhawks. ranks Oubre as the No. 11 overall prospect in the Class of 2014.

UK remains in the mix for small forward Stanley Johnson, who is still scheduled to visit Lexington for next week’s Big Blue Madness. Johnson is also considering Arizona, Southern Cal, Oregon and Florida.

Texas small forward Justise Winslow received a UK scholarship offer in July, but his high school coach recently told the Herald-Leader that Kentucky has not visited during the latest live recruiting period. Winslow has taken trips to several other schools and hasn’t mentioned UK in recent interviews.

  1. Ben, I was checking to see if my question was answered that I asked about Stanley Johnson and justice Winslow but that page is not up anymore on the site . So is it too late to go after Winslow? Do you think Stanley Johnson becomes the number 1 priority now? And if we can’t get Winslow do you think James young might come back next year?

  2. UK actually already offered Winslow back in July, but they didn’t visit him during the latest live recruiting period and Winslow hasn’t said anything about UK recently. He’s already taken or scheduled several official and unofficial visits to other schools. Seems like he’s not a realistic option for UK any more.

I think Stanley Johnson has been the No. 1 priority all along. Nothing has changed there. Big Blue Madness will be his first (and likely only) visit to UK, so it’s an important one. The general feeling right now is that Arizona is the leader there. UK second and USC also in the mix.

What happens with this recruiting class will have zero effect on what James Young decides to do after his freshman season, in my opinion. If he wants to go pro, he’ll go pro.

  3. i was about to say the same thing, ben … stanley johnson has been the #1 priority for a while

it will be interesting to see if cal heats up on another guy’s trail if oubre chooses ku today … maybe gives a little more attention to winslow or looks at another guy in the class

  4. I really think daraki Johnson goes pro after this year what are your thoughts on that? And if uk were to get Stanley Johnson and trey Lyles and Myles turner to go with Karl towns that would be 4 players in the top 10, if uk were to get all 4 of those with booker, Blackmon and ulis do you think that would be a number 1 ranked class?
