The guest list for Friday night’s Big Blue Madness is starting to clear up a couple of days before the big event.
Confirmed visitors include 2014 commitment Tyler Ulis and uncommitted 2014 prospects Stanley Johnson, Trey Lyles and James Blackmon Jr. The latter three will all be using official visits for this weekend’s trip. Ulis committed to UK a few days after his official visit to Lexington last month.
Michigan point guard Eric Davis is the only player from the Class of 2015 who has been confirmed as a Madness visitor. His high school coach talked to the Herald-Leader on Tuesday about the upcoming trip and Davis’ recruitment.
Three players from the Class of 2016 — Jayson Tatum, Joshua Langford and Kobi Simmons — will be at Big Blue Madness. Tatum is the only one of that trio with a UK scholarship offer.
Class of 2017 standout Brian Bowen — a high school teammate of Davis — will also make the trip.
Other players who had been rumored to attend Madness are 2015 forward Carlton Bragg, and 2016 recruits Quentin Goodin and Braxton Blackwell. Coaches and fathers for all three of those players have told the Herald-Leader this week that they will not be attending.
The father of 2015 guard Luke Kennard confirmed to the Herald-Leader that their family will not be able to attend due to that night’s football game. Kennard is also the starting quarterback at his school.
Johnson, Lyles and Blackmon are three of six uncommitted 2014 recruits who UK is seriously pursuing. The other three — Jahlil Okafor, Devin Booker and Myles Turner — will all be on official visits elsewhere. Okafor is visiting Kansas, Booker will be at Missouri and Turner will see Ohio State. Okafor and Booker have already used official visits to UK. Turner has said that he plans to make the trip to Lexington sometime soon.
Stay tuned to the blog throughout the week for more on UK’s visitors.
