James Blackmon Jr. is ready to reveal his college decision.
The highly touted Class of 2014 shooting guard is scheduled to announce his college choice Thursday night on ESPNU. An ESPN spokeswoman told the Herald-Leader that Blackmon’s announcement will be televised during halftime of the football game between Louisiana-Monroe and Troy. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff, so Blackmon’s announcement will likely come sometime around 9 p.m.
Blackmon is the son of former Kentucky player James Blackmon and is considered one of the best shooters in high school basketball. ESPN ranks him as the No. 19 overall prospect in the senior class.
The 6-foot-2 recruit has taken official visits to Michigan, Kentucky and Indiana in recent weeks. He is expected to choose one of those three schools, though Kansas and Michigan State are also on his list.
Blackmon was committed to the Hoosiers for nearly three years before backing out of that pledge in August. He will play his senior season in Marion, Ind.
