ESPN released its Junior 300 rankings for the Class of 2015 on Tuesday night, a list that includes three standout football players from Kentucky and several other UK recruiting targets.

Madison Southern running back Damien Harris is ranked as the No. 17 overall prospect in the junior class. He committed to Michigan earlier this season, though UK will likely still pursue him.

Bowling Green stars Eli Brown (Warren East) and Emmitt Smith (Warren Central) also made the Top 300. Brown — a 6-foot-2 linebacker — is ranked No. 219 overall. He recently decommitted from Vanderbilt and should be one of UK’s top targets in 2015. Smith — a 6-1 linebacker — is also being recruited by the Wildcats.

Caldwell County quarterback Elijah Sindelar did not make the list. He will be one of the frontrunners for the state’s Mr. Football honors next season and has recently acknowledged that UK is leading his recruitment.

Stephenville (Texas) quarterback Jarrett Stidham is rated as the No. 24 overall prospect and the No. 1 dual-threat QB in the class. The 6-foot-3 playmaker grew up in Kentucky and still has family ties in the state. He also has a scholarship offer from the Cats.

An ESPN article that accompanied the new rankings predicted that Stidham will end up at Baylor. That article noted that Baylor Coach Art Briles won four state championships as head coach at Stephenville in the 1990s and now runs one of the most exciting offenses in college football.

The Junior 300 includes 13 players from the state of Ohio, which has been a top location for UK’s new coaching staff. The Cats are already recruiting several of the Ohioans on ESPN’s list.

Three-star cornerback Montrell Custis is UK’s only commitment for the Class of 2015.
