One of John Calipari’s top recruiting targets will come to town for a game later this season.
Class of 2016 prospect Jayson Tatum is scheduled to play in the Goodfellas Pizzeria National Shootout at Lexington Catholic High School on Jan. 4. Tatum stars for St. Louis Chaminade, which will play Catholic in the 6:30 p.m. game. Taylor County and Quentin Goodin — another UK target for 2016 — will play Lincoln County at 8 p.m. The 5 p.m. opener pits Simon Kenton against Perry Central, which is led by Western Kentucky signee Justin Johnson and 2016 point guard Braxton Beverly.
Scout.com ranks Jayson Tatum as the No. 2 overall prospect in the sophomore class. The 6-foot-7 wing player was the first player from that class to receive a scholarship offer from UK and remains one of only three 2016 recruits with that distinction. Tatum was in Lexington for an unofficial visit in October, when he attended a UK practice and then Big Blue Madness.
Admission for the event will be $8.
