Travonte Valentine — the four-star defensive tackle who recently expressed interest in Kentucky — officially decommitted from Miami after Saturday’s Army All-American Bowl.
Valentine said earlier this week that he was reconsidering his commitment to the Hurricanes amid reports that Al Golden could leave the program for the same position at Penn State. The Hialeah, Fla., native also said he would take official visits to UK and Louisiana State later this month before making a final decision on national signing day, which is Feb. 5.
“Until Al Golden gets the OK that he’s staying, I’m decommitted,” Valentine told NOLA.com following Saturday’s game.
Valentine added that LSU is his favorite until further notice. He is expected to take his official visit to Baton Rouge on Jan. 17 and one to Lexington on Jan. 24.
Reports out of the All-American Bowl this week have said that Valentine struck up a friendship with top UK target Matt Elam, who will choose either Kentucky or Alabama on Feb. 5.
Rivals.com ranks Valentine as the No. 14 defensive tackle in the Class of 2014.
