UK b-ball signees nominated for McDonald’s Game

Four UK men’s basketball signees and one women’s signee were among nearly 1,000 players nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Games, it was announced Tuesday.

Devin Booker, Trey Lyles, Karl Towns and Tyler Ulis have all been nominated for the boys’ game. Ohio standout Alyssa Rice is the only UK women’s signee to be nominated.

The final teams for the McDonald’s All-American Games will be announced at 6 p.m. ET on Jan. 29 in a special on ESPNU. The games will be played April 2 in the United Center in Chicago.

All five future Wildcats would seem to have a solid chance of making the teams. Of the four men’s signees, Ulis is the lowest ranked on ESPN’s list at No. 33 overall. Rice is the No. 20 overall player in the senior class, according to ESPN.

UK men’s targets Myles Turner and Rashad Vaughn were also nominated.

There will be 24 players selected for each game.

Last year’s event featured a record six UK signees on the men’s side. Makayla Epps and Linnae Harper represented the Wildcats in the women’s game.

Tickets for this year’s games can be purchased starting at 11 a.m. ET on Jan. 11, through Ticketmaster or by calling (866) 909-4263.

In addition to the UK signees, there were 21 players from the state of Kentucky to receive nominations. Those players are Brent Bach (Augusta), Darion Burns (Fleming County), Christen Cunningham (Cordia), Jackson Davis (Lafayette), Nacarius Fant (Bowling Green), Jordan Green (Henry Clay), Shane Hall (Johnson Central), Dominique Harding (Elizabethtown), Lamontray Harris (PRP), Brandon Hatton (Dixie Heights), Malik Hines (Cordia), Justin Johnson (Perry Central), Fritz Lucien (Cordia), Kelan Martin (Ballard), Antonio McDaniels (PRP), Craig Owens (Trinity), Chris Porter-Bunton (Warren Central), Austin Rentfrom (Marshall County), Hunter Shelton (Apollo), Quentin Snider (Ballard), Troy Steward (Fleming County).

The two girls’ players from the state of Kentucky to receive nominations were Ivy Brown (LaRue County) and Kayla Rankin (Perry Central).

Snider is one of four Louisville men’s signees to be nominated. He is joined by Shaqquan Aaron, Jaylen Johnson and Chinanu Onuaku.
