PADUCAH — Huntington Prep star Montaque Gill-Caesar told the Herald-Leader on Thursday night that he still has not made a decision on whether or not to reclassify to the Class of 2014.
The 6-foot-6 small forward from the Toronto area is currently in the Class of 2015, but he is mulling a move to the senior class that would allow him to enroll in college following this season.
“I have no idea, man,” he said. “Still up in the air.”
Gill-Caesar said he’s been thinking a lot about the decision and talked about it with his mother while he was home for the holidays last month. He said they weighed the pros and cons of a possible move but didn’t come to a conclusion. “She feels that I’m ready,” he said.
There is no timetable for the decision.
Gill-Caesar mentioned Florida State, Memphis, Kansas, Michigan State, Alabama and West Virginia as the schools that have been in contact the most lately. He said he texts with UK assistant coach Orlando Antigua “here and there.” Antigua has seen Gill-Caesar play multiple times this season, and UK Coach John Calipari has watched him once.
Gill-Caesar has a UK scholarship offer for next season if he reclassifies.
He said he hasn’t made any plans for official visits, but added that he might take an unofficial trip to West Virginia this weekend. He took an unofficial visit to UK earlier in the season.
Scout.com ranks Gill-Caesar as the No. 18 overall prospect in the Class of 2015.
