Class of 2015 power forward Carlton Bragg picked up a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky on Sunday, one day after an impressive showing in front of John Calipari.
Bragg had 24 points and nine rebounds in Saturday’s 80-76 loss to Arsenal Tech (Ind.) at Mustang Madness in Paducah. UK signee Trey Lyles stars for Arsenal Tech.
Michael Graves, who is helping Bragg with his recruitment, confirmed the UK scholarship offer to the Herald-Leader. Graves said he spoke to UK assistant coach Orlando Antigua on Sunday, and the offer was extended.
Bragg — a 6-foot-8 prospect from Cleveland — said earlier in the week that UK is the one offer he didn’t have but wanted most. Top programs Arizona, Louisville, Kansas, Ohio State and many others had offered scholarships.
He made it clear that a UK offer would not speed up his recruiting process. Bragg still plans to wait until September before narrowing his list to 10 schools. He doesn’t expect to make a college decision until during or after his senior season of high school.
UK has now offered scholarships to eight players in the class of 2015. Scout.com ranks Bragg as the No. 9 overall prospect in the class.
