The 10-player Team USA squad for this year’s Nike Hoop Summit game was announced Monday, and there are no University of Kentucky signees on the list.
The team includes Class of 2014 stars Jahlil Okafor (Duke), Tyus Jones (Duke), Cliff Alexander (Kansas), Joel Berry (North Carolina), Justise Winslow (Duke), Stanley Johnson (Arizona), James Blackmon (Indiana), Kelly Oubre (Kansas), Theo Pinson (North Carolina) and Myles Turner, who is the only uncommitted player on the team.
Turner — a 7-foot center from Texas — is still considering Kentucky along with several other schools.
It’s highly unlikely that UK will be shut out of this year’s game. Two signees — Karl Towns Jr. and Trey Lyles — will be candidates to represent the World Team. Towns, who has family ties to the Dominican Republic and plays for that country’s national team, was on the World team as a junior last year. Lyles was born in Canada and plays for its junior national team.
Another notable omission on Team USA was Texas point guard Emmanuel Mudiay. The Southern Methodist signee was born in Congo and is also a candidate to represent the World team.
The members of the World team are expected to be announced in March.
The Nike Hoop Summit will be played April 12 at the Moda Center in Portland, Ore.
