Seven-footer Thon Maker is the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2016, according to the new recruiting rankings from ESPN.
Maker, who has received some early interest from UK, plays for The Carlisle School in Virginia. He was born in the Sudan and then moved to Australia before coming to the United States a couple of years ago.
UK has already offered scholarships to three players in the Class of 2016: North Carolina big man Harry Giles (No. 3), St. Louis wing Jayson Tatum (No. 4) and California power forward M.J. Cage, who is not ranked in ESPN’s Top 25.
Other sophomores who UK has show interest in include Alabama guard Josh Langford (No. 13), Tennessee forward Braxton Blackwell (No. 17), South Carolina guard Seventh Woods (No. 18) and Findlay Prep point guard Derryck Thornton (No. 24).
