UK’s first Southeastern Conference trip to Missouri is causing some split loyalties in the house of one Wildcats recruit.
Future Kentucky guard Devin Booker tweeted a photo Saturday of himself in a blue UK sweatshirt and his father in a yellow Mizzou shirt. The UK signee included the phrase “Battle of the household” in an earlier tweet.
Melvin Booker was the star player on Missouri’s Elite Eight team in 1994 that ran roughshod over the Big Eight Conference. He averaged 18.1 points per game and was a first-team All-American that season.
Devin Booker had Missouri among his finalists, but he chose to commit to UK and eventually signed with the Wildcats in November.
The younger Booker broke Moss Point (Miss.) High School’s career scoring record Friday night. He now has 2,263 career points at Moss Point.
