College football coaches are out recruiting this week, and that means lots of visits and new scholarship offers for prospects in the class of 2015.
Ohio wide receiver Alex Stump — a top UK target — picked up new offers from West Virginia and Minnesota following a huge performance at the Rivals camp in Columbus over the weekend. Cincinnati and Georgia Tech are among the other schools that had already offered Stump.
Ohio offensive lineman George Brown hosted Alabama for a visit on Wednesday morning. Brown is possibly UK’s top remaining target on the O-line and is also the cousin of 2014 signee Mike Edwards. He already has dozens of scholarship offers from major programs, and Alabama could join that list soon.
Ohio running back Larry “L.J.” Scott — a top UK target — told Scout.com’s Bill Greene that he’s “90 percent” of the way to committing to Michigan State. Ohio State is among the other major programs that have offered.
Youngstown linebacker Jordan Jones — a major UK target from Mark Stoops’ alma mater — added an offer from Indiana this week. UK is the perceived favorite in his recruitment.
Florida offensive lineman Jalen Merrick picked up an offer from Georgia Tech on Wednesday. He already had offers from several SEC schools, including UK.
