Indianapolis linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. tweeted Saturday morning that he was on UK’s campus as planned for a weekend recruiting visit.

Kirkland — a 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect — is considered a four-star player by every major recruiting service. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 6 inside linebacker and No. 183 overall prospect in the class of 2015.

Earlier this month, Kirkland named a top 10 of Penn State, Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

This is his first visit to UK.

  1. My gosh this kid looks like an awesome football player. I hope he enjoys his trip and feels the love from Kentucky coaches, players and fans. Welcome Darrin, we need a strong middle linebacker presence to go along with the two outside linebackers we have coming to Kentucky. Help Kentucky win a SEC title and become part of the BBN!!!

  2. Wow! Now that looks like a backer. Choose BBN big fella.

  3. Mr. Kirkland, the University of Kentucky is a football school! A lot of the entire BBN does not realize that yet, but should you commit to UK they will realize a whole lot quicker. With that said, there is a whole multitude of football first UK fans, 85,000 plus in two Spring Games, that “Believe” what is happening here. Commonwealth Stadium will be filled in the future and we, BBN, wish you to fill the hole in the middle of our “D”. So Mr. Kirkland, we invite you to cross the Ohio River and come on down and play in the SEC.
