The son of former Kentucky football star Craig Yeast received a scholarship offer from the Wildcats on Saturday night.
Craig Yeast II — he goes by “Russ” — is a wide receiver in the class of 2017. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect was a freshman at Columbian High in Tiffin, Ohio, this past season. His father was recently hired as head coach at Fremont Ross High School in Fremont, Ohio, and the younger Yeast will play there this fall.
Yeast was in Lexington on Saturday for one of UK’s spring camps.
Michigan and Florida State are among other schools that have already shown interest in Yeast’s recruitment.
Craig Yeast was a Kentucky high school star before becoming one of the greatest football players in recent UK history. He played from 1995-98 and remains the program’s leader in career receptions (208), receiving yards (2,899) and touchdown receptions (28).
