The first basketball recruit from the class of 2016 to receive a University of Kentucky scholarship offer is now the No. 1 prospect in the Scout.com rankings.
St. Louis wing Jayson Tatum took over the top spot when the new rankings were released Monday. Tatum visited Lexington for Big Blue Madness last October and played a game at Lexington Catholic in front of Coach John Calipari and two UK assistants in January.
The 6-foot-7 prospect is being heavily recruited by Duke, North Carolina and Kansas, among many others.
Michigan wing Josh Jackson is No. 2 in the new Scout Top 75, followed by North Carolina post player Harry Giles, Virginia 7-footer Thon Maker and Arkansas guard Malik Monk. UK has extended scholarship offers to Giles and Maker and is recruiting Monk.
Giles was previously the No. 1 player in the class but is recovering from ACL, MCL and meniscus surgery. He made his return to the court this past spring after missing a year of basketball.
Other players with UK scholarship offers in the class of 2016 include point guard Derryck Thornton (No. 8), center Udoka Azubuike (No. 11), shooting guard Tyus Battle (No. 12) and power forward M.J. Cage (No. 34).
There were no players from Kentucky in the Top 75.
