Five-star shooting guard Antonio Blakeney cut his list to seven schools Monday, and his recruitment is shaping up as a possible battle between UK and Louisville.
Those two schools made the cut, along with Florida State, Oregon, USC, Missouri and Louisiana State. The list was a bit surprising for the schools that didn’t make it, which included Florida, Kansas and North Carolina. All three of those national powers had extended scholarship offers to Blakeney.
The 6-foot-4 prospect from Orlando is considered a top-20 player in the class of 2015 by all of the major recruiting services. He earned a scholarship offer from UK earlier this month.
“I love his ability to score,” Scout.com’s Evan Daniels told the Herald-Leader recently. “Honestly, he’s one of the top scorers in this class. He knows how to create space with his dribble. He’s turned in to a tremendous athlete. He’s very good in transition. He can get to the mid range and make shots. He’s a pretty good shooter from three. … And he’s getting better. He’s clearly a hard worker, because he’s made tremendous strides in his game over the past year.”
UK and U of L are the two leading schools on Blakeney’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page.
