Highly touted basketball prospect Allonzo Trier announced his commitment to Arizona on Sunday morning.
Trier — a 6-foot-4 shooting guard originally from Oklahoma City — is the No. 15 overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to Scout.com, and is coming off a stellar showing on the summer circuit. He averaged 30.8 points per game at the Nike Peach Jam, including an event-high 42-point performance. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 8 player in the class.
Kentucky expressed interest in Trier’s recruitment last month, but he never had a confirmed scholarship offer from the Wildcats. He was one of several highly touted guards that Louisville was seriously pursuing to fill out its recruiting class.
Georgetown, Indiana and UConn were among the other schools that had offered.
Trier is Coach Sean Miller’s 10th five-star commitment at Arizona since 2011 and the third for the Wildcats’ class of 2015. He joins small forward Ray Smith and point guard Justin Simon in that class.
Trier was home-schooled in Oklahoma for his first two seasons before heading to Montrose Christian in Maryland for his junior year. He will wrap up his high school career at Findlay Prep in Nevada.
