Here’s a rundown of how the four UK freshmen did in the Cats’ 121-52 exhibition victory over Georgetown College on Sunday night:
Trey Lyles: The 6-foot-11 forward was third on the team with 14 points and added four rebounds in 17 minutes on the court. Lyles was 6-for-9 on field goals and made both of his three-point attempts. “Something I’ve worked on,” Lyles said of his three-point range.
Karl-Anthony Towns: The only freshman starter in UK’s two exhibition games, Towns had 13 points and was second on the team with eight rebounds Sunday night. He made all five of his field-goal attempts and was 3-for-5 on free throws in 18 minutes.
Devin Booker: He hit back-to-back threes at one point in the first half and finished with 11 points, four assists and a game-high three steals in 16 minutes. He was 4-for-9 from the floor and made three of seven three-point attempts. After the game, Aaron Harrison said Booker is the best shooter on the team.
Tyler Ulis: The 5-9 point guard was the only Wildcat in the platoon rotation who failed to score a point. Ulis was 0-for-3 from the field — all three-point attempts. He did have four assists and zero turnovers in 19 minutes and started several other plays that led to UK baskets.
