Five-star basketball recruit Carlton Bragg will announce his college decision Thursday afternoon from his high school in Cleveland.
Bragg — a 6-foot-8 forward in the class of 2015 — has narrowed his list of schools to UK, Illinois and Kansas. He visited UK and Kansas for their midnight madness events in October.
UK Coach John Calipari and assistant coach Barry “Slice” Rohrssen watched Bragg play in West Virginia on Friday night. Illinois assistant coach Dustin Ford was there too. Kansas coaches Bill Self and Norm Roberts were also scheduled to attend but had to cancel their trip to due weather issues.
Bragg is no longer considering UCLA, which had previously been a finalist.
His college announcement is scheduled to take place at 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer talked to the Herald-Leader on Wednesday about his remaining “Crystal Ball” predictions for the class of 2015. Meyer currently has none of the nine players with UK scholarship offers picking the Wildcats.
Even so, Meyer said he doubts UK would miss on all of its remaining targets, and specifically mentioned one player who he could possibly flip to the UK column.
“A guy like Carlton Bragg comes to mind,” Meyer said. “I think Kentucky is in a great spot with him, and that might be one that I could possibly change.”
Kansas is Meyer’s current pick for Bragg.
