THE DECISION: Damien Harris announced his commitment to Alabama on Friday.

Decision day has arrived for those UK football fans who have followed the recruitment of Damien Harris for more than a year.

The five-star running back from Madison Southern will announce his college choice during a ceremony at the high school Friday at about 1:15 p.m. The finalists are UK, Alabama and Ohio State, though it’s clear his pick will either be the Wildcats or the Crimson Tide.

Herald-Leader preps writer Mike Fields will provide live updates from Madison Southern, and you can follow him on Twitter at @MikeFieldsNotes. For those of you in the Central Kentucky area, the announcement will be shown live on CW-Lexington with coverage beginning at 1 p.m. WKYT.com will also provide a live online video feed.

Check this page throughout the day for the latest on Harris’ decision. Here’s what you need to know:

The live video: Check this link around 1 p.m. for live video of Harris’ announcement ceremony. He is expected to reveal his college choice at about 1:15 p.m.

Comparison: Rivals.com national analyst tells us that Harris could be a ‘natural pass catcher’ in college and compares him to Ladainian Tomlinson — a surefire NFL Hall of Fame running back. Read Farrell’s thoughts here.

Preview: Rivals.com national analyst Mike Farrell was predicting Harris would pick Kentucky up until Thursday morning, when he changed his prediction to Alabama. He talks about that here.

Predictions: Steve Jones of The Courier-Journal has compiled a long list of predictions from local and national folks who have been watching the Harris recruitment. Alabama is mentioned the most, but many are sticking with UK. Read them all right here.

More predictions: The guys at AL.com have a primer of their own with predictions and a poll where readers can chime in on where Harris is heading. UK is not faring well.

Home or away?: Herald-Leader columnist Mark Story wonders if Harris will follow the path of Tim Couch or Shaun Alexander. And he reminds us that — no matter where he goes — Harris will always be a Kentuckian. Check out Mark’s column here.

His words: Harris and those around him talk to Larry Vaught of the The Danville Advocate Messenger about his decision. “I have a tenacious mindset, and I am willing to prove people wrong at any cost.” Read it right here.

The Crystal Ball: If you didn’t get enough predictions in the links above, you can check out Damien Harris’ 247Sports Crystal Ball page. Alabama is the leader.

See Damien run: Harris scored seven touchdowns in a victory at Paul Laurence Dunbar in September, and cn|2 was there to get some video highlights. Will that be his last football game in Lexington?

Remember when …: UK Coach Mark Stoops made sure he arrived in style for his only allotted in-season visit to see Harris play at Madison Southern — by landing near the football field in a helicopter. Relive that moment with this video.

Who would he join?: Check out our 2015 commitments page to read a little bit more about the 17 high school seniors who have already pledged to Kentucky for next season.

A little less competition: Alabama running back T.J. Yeldon is heading to the NFL Draft, which means Harris would have one less talented teammate to battle for a top spot on the depth chart should he choose the Tide.

Rivals.com player page: The recruiting service considers Harris to be the No. 1 running back and No. 11 overall prospect in the class of 2015. He would be the first Rivals five-star recruit to commit to Kentucky. Check out his player page here.
