Owensboro post player Aric Holman disappointed in his Sweet Sixteen debut last season but turned in a bounce-back performance in Wednesday’s 55-38 victory over Collins.
Holman – a 6-foot-9 senior – started off a little slow once again, but finished with 15 points, nine rebounds, four blocked shots, three assists and zero turnovers for the Devils. He was named the game’s most outstanding player.
Last year, Holman was 0-for-7 from the floor and fouled out without scoring a point in Owensboro’s opening-round loss to Louisville Trinity.
Holman will spend a post-graduate year at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia next season, then head to college as a member of the recruiting class of 2016. He said after Wednesday’s game that he has scholarship offers from Louisville, Memphis, Virginia Commonwealth, Cincinnati and Xavier.
Holman said he has no favorites, no plans to visit schools anytime soon and is still open to new schools entering his recruitment.
“I’m still wide open,” Holman said. “I’m just taking my time right now.”
Scout.com ranks him as the No. 94 overall prospect in the class of 2016.
Holman and Owensboro will play Friday at noon against the winner of Taylor County and Hopkinsville.
