UK is scheduled to host two basketball recruits in Lexington this weekend, and another top target will be down the road on an official visit to Louisville.
Class of 2016 shooting guard Markelle Fultz is the first visitor expected at UK this weekend. Fultz — a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Md. — is considered the No. 24 overall prospect in the class by Rivals.com. He does not yet have a scholarship offer from UK, but he’s been highly interested in the Wildcats from the early stages of his recruitment.
Possible class of 2015 target LaGerald Vick is scheduled to arrive in Lexington on Sunday for a two-day official visit. Vick visited Kansas State last weekend and wrapped up an official visit to Kansas on Thursday night.
There was some buzz that Vick might commit to Kansas during or shortly after his visit to Lawrence, but that had not happened as of Friday afternoon.
Vick — a 6-5 shooting guard from Memphis — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 49 overall player in the class of 2016, though he’s expected to move to the class of 2015 in order to play college basketball next season.
Kentucky and Kansas are seen as the two favorites in his recruitment.
Also this weekend, V.J. King will take his first official visit — to Louisville.
King — a five-star small forward in the class of 2016 — recently narrowed his list to Louisville, Kentucky, Arizona, Virginia and UConn. The 6-foot-6 prospect from Virginia seemed high on U of L during an interview with the Herald-Leader and others while in Lexington last month.
UConn is expected to host King for an official visit later this month.
