CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Four-star post player Xavier Tillman said Friday that he received a scholarship offer from Kentucky earlier this week.

Tillman — a 6-foot-8 prospect in the class of 2017 — said he also has offers from Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Iowa and Xavier. He said he’s still working for offers from Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Michigan and Marquette.

The interest from UK was especially important.

“It took a lot of weight off my shoulders,” Tillman said. “I was working real hard to get them. I was like, ‘Those guys are going to make sure that I make it to the NBA.’ When I heard that they offered me, I was just geeked.”

Tillman, who is competing at the NBPA Top 100 Camp this week, has already visited Lexington twice. The first trip came before the start of his sophomore season, and the most recent visit was earlier this month before he landed the UK scholarship offer.

“They’re just so high major,” he said. “They’re always that top team. If they ever give you interest, you have to (visit) there, just to see it out.”

Rivals.com ranks Tillman as the No. 68 overall prospect in the class of 2017.

  1. Absolutely loved this kid when I saw him at the Spiece Run N Slam in May. As a Butler fan, I’m very disappointed to see a Kentucky offer. Was hoping he wouldn’t blow up that much. Kid is extremely skilled around the rim to go with a powerful body. Might not have quite the height Kentucky is used to seeing for a center but it’s not going to matter for him.
