University of Kentucky basketball commitment Tai Wynyard told Stuff.co.nz on Thursday that he is “50-50” on playing for the Wildcats during the upcoming 2015-16 season.

Wynyard — a 6-foot-10 power forward from New Zealand — committed to the Cats earlier this year and is on pace to graduate from his high school in December and arrive in Lexington on Dec. 15.

He’ll have the option of starting his freshman season right away or redshirting the rest of the season and coming back as a freshman in 2016-17.

“I think I could handle the level, but I probably won’t decide until I get there,” Wynyard told the website. “There are pluses and minuses both ways.”

UK’s frontcourt will already include possible No. 1 draft pick Skal Labissiere, senior Alex Poythress, junior Marcus Lee and freshman Isaac Humphries.
